Alex, I'll respond to your post tomorrow. I seem to have forgotten my backpack at school when we went to Leatherby's. Unfortunately, the draft of my response post is in one of my folders which is in my backpack... =/ So for now, I'll do a post describing what OvP has been through in my perspective.
THE BEGINNING:
Well, let's start way back in early Fall of 2008. I had recently watched all of the episodes to date of RedvsBlue. This sparked an interesting thought in my head. I thought, "I could round up a few of my good friends and put together something a lot like RvB..." I ran through some memories in my head and I remembered hearing an idea of two of my old friends (Reese and Aric), who were totally kidding by the way, say something about doing a series called OrangevsPurple. I can tell they were kidding because they said that 4 years ago and they haven't spoken of it since.
THE PROPOSAL:
So once I got the name figured out, it was time to propose the small idea to my friends, Alex and Hudson. Alex seemed to jump on board after I showed him the now long-lost draft of a Christmas PSA episode. Hudson never seemed to show as much interest as Alex and he still doesn't. I gotta cut him some slack, though. He's a really busy kid for our age (sophomores in high school) and it sounds like he won't be able to do OvP much. But we'll try and make some time for it.
GETTING TEAGAN:
Once I had Alex and Hudson on, I realized that 3 people was not going to be enough at all. You see, Alex had and still has a good friend named Teagan. She is a passionate writer and is very good at acting. I asked Alex if Teagan would be interested in joining OvP and I eventually even ended up asking her myself. She said yes after a bit of convincing.
MUSIC AND SCRIPTS:
Now that I had 4 friends working on helping this once small idea grow into something more, I started working on the music and even a few scripts. While the music was a big hit with the rest of the staff, I never got around to finishing the scripts. They eventually became lost and I haven't seen them in over a year despite my hard efforts of looking.
FIRST OVP MEETING:
Sometime in February 2009, we had the first OvP meeting held at my house. Unfortunately, I was whacked with pillows almost the three hours that Alex, Teagan, and one of Teagan's friends were there. The meeting was originally intended to teach Teagan and her friend how to play Halo 3. Sadly enough, it ended up being a completeP failure with Alex and I just screwing around on Forge whilst I was repeatedly attacked with pillows... Now that we're older, I hope to have meetings be a lot more productive.
PROCRASTINATION:
After that meeting, I had honestly lost my motivation to continue working on OvP. Alex continued to ask me how OvP was coming along and how we should seriously get started on it. Somehow, I really didn't want to do OvP anymore. It just seemed so pointless. I kept on saying to Alex, "We'll get started on it soon." This continued for about... Oh... I think for 8 months. Sorry Alex.
JESSE:
Just recently though, I have gotten my motivation back to actually start up OvP in the Summer. Somehow, Alex convinced me to do it. To be honest, I think Jesse actually had a large role to play in this, too. In October or September (I can't remember) in my Fitness for Life class, I met a really cool guy that is now one of my close friends. This was Jesse. After getting to know Jesse a little bit, I realized that we shared a lot of the same interests. One of these was RvB and other Machinimas. Eventually, I asked Jesse if he would like to join us in doing OvP to which he agreed enthusiastically. You could usually find us just wasting our class time discussing OvP instead of actually running or doing what we were supposed to do. This greatly helped to regain my want to do OvP. So thanks, Jess. You're going to do great in this.
TV/FILM PRODUCTION:
One of the classes I am taking in my sophomore year is TV/Film Production. This is really where I'm getting all my skills in video editing and other necessary skills for this. I'm learning a lot and I'm going to be taking it next year to help further improve my skill. It's really going to be a great help for when I have to edit and do all the other things to the videos for OvP.
UPCOMING:
So after nearly two years of "progress" (or procrastination. Whatever suits you), OvP will finally be starting up in the Summer of 2010. We'll probably have a monthly episode or update. It really depends on how hard we work this.
So there you go. Just the history of OvP through my eyes. I really hope everyone's serious about this thing.
Good night.
