In the past Week...

Wow. Forgot about that last post. Well, it doesn't really matter anymore.

Everyone, things are changing. OvP has changed, or evolved to something more, you could say. The new name... is Foretech. You may not understand the meaning of the name at the moment, but it will make sense.

The plot has also gained shape now. It will also remain hidden from everyone. But that's a no-brainer. Why would you tell everyone your plotline? It wouldn't make much sense.

Alex and I hung out all day today working on Foretech. Seriously, all we did was make progress on it. Except for maybe an hour of just fooling around. ... Fine, I'll be honest. It was like three hours of working and three hours of playing around. Let's review the past week, shall we?

- Developed a plotline

- Changed the name to Foretech

- Made the beginning to a few of the maps

- Decided what Alex's and Connor's (me) armor is going to look like. This means color and armor types. Alex's armor types may change. All he has currently is C.Q.B. and he doesn't seem too fond of it.

- Created a new song

- Gathered lots of ideas for the series

- Started working on creating the new theme song

- Took screenshots for the video while the theme song plays

Well, judging by this, I'd say it's been quite a successful week. Now I just have to continue this working spirit.

So there's just a small update for everyone. I'm now altering the blog and songs (and anything else that may need it) to have the name say Foretech instead of OvP.

Night everyone.

Your Response

Why?

Why? Cause it PsMO when people will change the name of something- Anything! Because they don't believe it suits them right then and there.

Changing a story name, or self given title is fine if it reflects who you were then, you are now, and who you will be.

When a person comes up with a name of a story, or a person, or wrote sections of an entry to a blog, or journal, AND THEN they decide to change it afterward cause it doesn't seem right anymore is just plain wrong and bugs me.

It's like going to the library and rewriting a history book.

Of course not! The plot I plan will only be short snippets of tiny conversation at the black part of the fading away of the screen (at least for the first few episodes). You won't be able to decipher or even understand any of it, but it will seamlessly blend in with any plot anyone writes. Trust me.

Oh yes, I remember Teagan's outburst! :D

Hmm. That recording wasn't terrible, but we will want the special effects music of Halo (Firing lasers, etc.) so Mute will not be an option, unfortunately.

My point on Tale of Two and "No chance, Not even close" are referencing the same thing. I was merely stating that this will have to be consistent, steady and slow but sure work. We won't be able to just have random spurts of doing OvP, but plan for all the steps, and etc.

And sure, you have ideas.

But those "ideas" need to translate into 4 or 5 minute episodes, and far more work than they seem.

I still can't hear the music from the regular site so...

Hold the Phone

... -_- WTF, Alex... Dude, that's really messed up... I kind lost some respect for you there... Why are you so determined to use the name OvP?

I'll try to come up with some ideas... But I'd need to know the plot you are hiding. Otherwise, my ideas won't fit.

Teagan got a little mad because you said that we were replacing her with Jesse, which we're not. I wanted Jesse in this whether Teagan was in or not.

I recorded the Banjo Kazooie videos by simple pointing a TV at the screen, which we might be able to do. All I did was edit the sound so it was muted, then add a song that sounded cool with the featured vehicle (Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts to those who don't know what I am talking about). But we could do quiet music and voice-overs eaisily.

I know there's a microphone on GarageBand (as I've used it many times before) but if we want our voices to sound as if we're talking over a radio, we may want to use the iPhone. We'll test both.

Never read it. What's your point?

What's the "No chance. Not even close" for? PSA's would be fun to do.

RvB does one high quality episode in a week... We can do it in a month at most.

If you've forgotten, I have mutiple ideas saved on my phone and I write more in whenever we think of new ones. So we already have some ideas laid out. K, next sleepover, we're working on OvP script and level building. Should be easy enough.

The nice thing with Flipnote Hatena, is that there are tons of hilarious people on there. I have gotten plenty ideas from just watching flipnotes. So we should have a constant idea flow as long as I have a connection to Flipnote.

A lot of those,Proxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0

0wait, all of those are Internet Memes... I like some of them, but every singly one of them in a row might be a bit much... The key here is to be funny, but not try too hard by using already overused quotes. I don't know, it'll depend how we do it. By the way, I most likely will change the name Mustang. I don't know what it will be yet, but I'm probably changing it. And I'll be probably be changing my theme completely, too. I want to improve my character.

We may want scripts occasionally. Just saying. But improv is something we'll without a doubt do.

AN OVP ANNOUNCEMENT:

So you guys may have noticed I did some rennovations to the blog last night. I noticed there were only 9 items on the blog's soundtrack. I found that a little sad because Halo has a lot of great music and I wondered to myself, 'Why on earth are there only 9 songs on the blog? More importantly, why is one of them a song that doesn't relate to Halo in the slightest?' So I went to the best website ever (Playlist.com) and first of deleted the unrelated Halo song. Then I added about 26 more songs (all Halo related. Yes, I'm a bit bugged by the fact something else was on there. =/). I don't know if any of you noticed even that, but I'll tell you guys something really cool. So there's this guy that calls himself Mothergoat. This guy is totally talented remixer and has made remixes of plenty of Halo songs. I'm not sure how he does it, but I got most of the ones he has made onto our playlist. Be sure to check them out.

Other than that, I'm just going to try and design our own blog template related directly to OvP. Heck, I might just ask my dad to help me design something... He would probably help. Sorry, ranting now.

Well, I'm off. I have to go to English now in about 5-10 minutes. Yeahhhhh, I totally wrote this in TV/Film Production because I'm done with my project and there's nothing better to do.

Alex, if you don't want to publicly tell me what our plot is going to be, just text me. I'd like to come up wi

Let's see, where to begin?

*sigh*

Here's your ultimatum: Change the name of OvP and I will be unwilling to help :O

(Unless it's so totally wicked awesome, but that would take some serious awesomeness that I think you lack- Only Jack Black owns that kind of awesome)

((and he's not willing to share))

How Did Teagan react?

No, we won't use the iPhone at all (wait, though, is that how you recorded Banjo?)
-Excuse me, but I don't know anything at all about recording, but the voice acting will NOT require iphone. The microphone straight to garageband is just fine. Seriously, look for a microphone function on garageband, you should know.

Link cable=yes.

colors, development, ideas, jesse, yes yes yes, but I wish to say something:

You haven't read A Tale of Two, have you?
Me and Teagan's story?
200 pages?
Written by and per text?
That I compiled myself?
YOU THINK WE DID THAT IN A COUPLE OF DAYS????!!!!!!!

No chance. Not even close.

It required small amounts of work consistently.
#1 That proves both our skill in writing, but also determination.

Each step I talked about should be one thing at a time.

One day, we came up with an idea. Next day, you made the level and I the script (that will change depending). Then wrote scripts. Then, we plan a week or two ahead, and bring enough guys to act it out. Acted, then we bring in Teagan or other guest actors, planning some kind of party along with it.

In that sense, it would probably take a month to get it finished, but that would be without distractions.

All of us will have to learn how to just concentrate on one episode at a time.
Not get ambitious.

You and me should write this first episode.

No, scratch that, I say we do a trial episode- And I propose we use my -"SPARTAN 1337REPORTING FOR DUTY! I'M A FIRIN' MA LAZER! DO A BARREL ROLL! HEADSHOT! CARRRRLLLLLLLL! *WARTHOG MUSIC* (Or Mustang theme song, could also work) I'M DUEL-WIELDING MY SMG'S!!! 1337 and the radio(-NEED SOME OTHER SONG- FOLLOWED BY- STILL ALIVE), then driving out into the sunset (desert)
.......boop..........boop.........boop......boop...boop..boop boop boopboopbobpbob!!

DR OCTAGONAPUS, BLERRRGGGHG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(THE GUARDIANS xD xD xD xD xD xD xD xD xD xD xD xD xD)

IDEA OBTAINED. PLOT FORMED.

DISTANCES NEED TO BE SCOPED OUT, THE SCENE NEEDS TO BE ACTED
AND SCRIPTS.....SHOULDN'T NEED TO BE MADE.

:D

Mr. Alex,

It's called 2 windows, Alex. xD I thought your nickname was gadget?

Well I talked with Jesse today in World CIV about keeping the name OvP. While he said he didn't care anymore, he also brought up the point of if OvP does end up getting better, then we would really want to change the name. But the problem is, how could we change it at that point? I think we should just change it now while it's easy. Jesse would like to try and change it himself, but he thinks he doesn't have enough say in the matter. I find that sad... =( Basically, let's just change it to something else. I can easily change all the stuff we've done so far (i.e. song titles, blog title, etc.) without changing the blog's actual URL. So there's nothing to worry about. Heck, I can even go through all the past blog posts and edit it so that when it says "OvP", I can put the new name there instead.

Onto another subject, Teagan would enjoy writing the scripts very much. By the way, she still seems interested in voice-acting. Did you notice how she reacted when you told her about Jesse?

... You're right... This is only for fun.

RvB uses an effect on their voice-overs so they sound as if it's an actual radio. We won't be able to do that on my app... Neither will I be able to edit the grenades or other objects so they look like something else... So, sorry about that. But back to the sound quality. If we use my iPhone, I can turn off (or leave it on. Which ever we prefer) the high-quality recording. If we leave it off, it gives it a little bit of a "hollow" effect. To me, it sounds a little like the effect on RvB. Just saying.

Next, I did some research online for the cost of a link cable. What I saw was an average of about $8 it $9 for a new one. So I can take care of that and possibly the microphone if we aren't going to do the iPhone or iMac recording (GarageBand). I can do whatever. But we'd eventually need the link cable. We all know that.

Jesse and Teagan, I have no doubt they'll do great at acting. They're both in drama and have been for a long time.

In relation to color differences, there's also armor choices. We shouldn't have any problems.

We can do "side movies". But we are doing PSA's, too. ^_^

Yeah, that's how the devolopment of any video is done. Especially in documentaries. I've had that plan for awhile. Well done on understand how we should run things.

Great job with talking about things with Jesse. I have a feeling he'll be a great help on all of OvP.

Okay, now onto some new things.

You've heard some of my preferences for the plot. I would love it if we kept the beginning of the plot (how I get to where you guys are. When I say "you guys", I'm talking about where OvP will be taking place. You should remember how I want to get there. xD) the same, though.

There may be some other things I'm forgetting. But that's all I can think of right now.

Have a good evenging, everyone.

History of OvP

Alex, I'll respond to your post tomorrow. I seem to have forgotten my backpack at school when we went to Leatherby's. Unfortunately, the draft of my response post is in one of my folders which is in my backpack... =/ So for now, I'll do a post describing what OvP has been through in my perspective.

THE BEGINNING:
Well, let's start way back in early Fall of 2008. I had recently watched all of the episodes to date of RedvsBlue. This sparked an interesting thought in my head. I thought, "I could round up a few of my good friends and put together something a lot like RvB..." I ran through some memories in my head and I remembered hearing an idea of two of my old friends (Reese and Aric), who were totally kidding by the way, say something about doing a series called OrangevsPurple. I can tell they were kidding because they said that 4 years ago and they haven't spoken of it since.

THE PROPOSAL:
So once I got the name figured out, it was time to propose the small idea to my friends, Alex and Hudson. Alex seemed to jump on board after I showed him the now long-lost draft of a Christmas PSA episode. Hudson never seemed to show as much interest as Alex and he still doesn't. I gotta cut him some slack, though. He's a really busy kid for our age (sophomores in high school) and it sounds like he won't be able to do OvP much. But we'll try and make some time for it.

GETTING TEAGAN:
Once I had Alex and Hudson on, I realized that 3 people was not going to be enough at all. You see, Alex had and still has a good friend named Teagan. She is a passionate writer and is very good at acting. I asked Alex if Teagan would be interested in joining OvP and I eventually even ended up asking her myself. She said yes after a bit of convincing.

MUSIC AND SCRIPTS:
Now that I had 4 friends working on helping this once small idea grow into something more, I started working on the music and even a few scripts. While the music was a big hit with the rest of the staff, I never got around to finishing the scripts. They eventually became lost and I haven't seen them in over a year despite my hard efforts of looking.

FIRST OVP MEETING:
Sometime in February 2009, we had the first OvP meeting held at my house. Unfortunately, I was whacked with pillows almost the three hours that Alex, Teagan, and one of Teagan's friends were there. The meeting was originally intended to teach Teagan and her friend how to play Halo 3. Sadly enough, it ended up being a completeP failure with Alex and I just screwing around on Forge whilst I was repeatedly attacked with pillows... Now that we're older, I hope to have meetings be a lot more productive.

PROCRASTINATION:
After that meeting, I had honestly lost my motivation to continue working on OvP. Alex continued to ask me how OvP was coming along and how we should seriously get started on it. Somehow, I really didn't want to do OvP anymore. It just seemed so pointless. I kept on saying to Alex, "We'll get started on it soon." This continued for about... Oh... I think for 8 months. Sorry Alex.

JESSE:
Just recently though, I have gotten my motivation back to actually start up OvP in the Summer. Somehow, Alex convinced me to do it. To be honest, I think Jesse actually had a large role to play in this, too. In October or September (I can't remember) in my Fitness for Life class, I met a really cool guy that is now one of my close friends. This was Jesse. After getting to know Jesse a little bit, I realized that we shared a lot of the same interests. One of these was RvB and other Machinimas. Eventually, I asked Jesse if he would like to join us in doing OvP to which he agreed enthusiastically. You could usually find us just wasting our class time discussing OvP instead of actually running or doing what we were supposed to do. This greatly helped to regain my want to do OvP. So thanks, Jess. You're going to do great in this.

TV/FILM PRODUCTION:
One of the classes I am taking in my sophomore year is TV/Film Production. This is really where I'm getting all my skills in video editing and other necessary skills for this. I'm learning a lot and I'm going to be taking it next year to help further improve my skill. It's really going to be a great help for when I have to edit and do all the other things to the videos for OvP.

UPCOMING:
So after nearly two years of "progress" (or procrastination. Whatever suits you), OvP will finally be starting up in the Summer of 2010. We'll probably have a monthly episode or update. It really depends on how hard we work this.

So there you go. Just the history of OvP through my eyes. I really hope everyone's serious about this thing.

Good night.

The Agenda

Perhaps, but you forgot one important tidbit...I write in my blog every monday :D

(Grr, you're gonna make me go back and forth for every subject I talked about, huh?...well, no, I'll just summarize or answer them.)

Let's just stick with OvP. It sounds cool, it's what we're called, and it's already set up.

I think the taking turns writing scripts idea is wonderful! Even Teagan would enjoy that! Although I would like to monitor and edit what everyone writes *heavily* so that my secrective, and hidden plotline could continue.

We need to have fun with OvP. That's the main goal here.
If we don't have fun, then there's no point in doing it at all.

Shopping Cart:
Me- ODST.
Connor- Microphone (or Jesse- Microphone)
Everyone- (or Connor if Jesse gets the Microphone) Link Cable

The Microphone comes first, now realize that it could be your Iphone, I'm just saying. But any small microphone that's like $20 can do more good than you would give it credit.

I'll get ODST, and be able (maybe) to set up a second tv with your xbox downstairs (wicked awesome for parties man) and that will help with the designing load.

Link Cable is just a buncha bucks, but basically important.
Not totally needed, as we could film with only a few people at a time, but useful.

Notes- Teagan would gladly help if we didn't give her a controller, but a script instead.

True, we should be good actors, I'm still worried about hudson.

Colors can be figured out when needed (Someone has to be purple and orange, duh.

And instead of holiday episodes, we could have side movies for hunters and runners etc. and good practice/ trial episodes too.

Here's what I'm thinking we will do for each episode:
1. Form a basic plot/ idea, discussing it with the entire staff.
2. Create the level.
3. Scope out the distances, places, and where/when etc. Write scripts.
4. (BEFORE) Act it out (No voices, but we should be saying things as we do it all.)
5. Record the movie from the Xbox to the computer. Record voices to the movie.
6. (THEN) You can do all the editing stuff- cinema, music, sfx, etc.

1-3 will be everytime, but the exact way or order that we record could be different, although that would work the best.

(As in- We could use the microphone during gameplay, or after, in the computer room)

We will discuss this more later!

P.S. I have only had Japanese with Jesse so far, and we usually sit on opposite sides of the room, however we now sit together at lunch on B days, I've been able to talk to him about it quite a bit.

A Response

Well, Alex did it. Time for me to get off my "lazy butt" and do this thing...

Alex, a few things in response...

I can change the song names, teams, etc. at any given time. It wouldn't be hard for me at all. =/ Plotline? We have a plotline? Wait. You're writing it... Well, I have no objection to this. I love the idea of the meteor. But here's my idea...

We all take turns writing episodes. We'll give credit to whoever wrote the script in the episode credits. I know, I'm not very good at describing things. But Jesse has shown some interest in writing some scripts. He frequently asks me how scripts are coming. And as you said, you and him are alike in many ways. So I see no reason as to not let him give it a go.

I would also like to write some things. You remember my long lost scripts I did last year (9th grade) for episodes that may never come to be. You are quoting the Christmas and Easter mixup a lot. xD Also, you forget I'm writing multiple stories at the same time. =P Anyways, let's just all take turns writing for those who want to.

And machinima is the official term!! =P But I admit it, OvP just has a better ring to it compared RvB when you say it. However, it doesn't roll off your tongue because you don't use your tongue at all when saying it. ;P

Whilst thinking of RvB when they watch OvP may be a good thing, it will most likely be a bad thing. We will possibly get flamed and criticized non-stop for doing it. But you bring up an excellent point when you say they have actors, an entire office, experience, etc. We only have a single computer to work with that has a horrible video editing app... I mean, I get by fine with it, but they're using stuff like Final Cut Pro, which is what we use at the school and even news channels use it. It's that big. So I would like to possibly invest in getting more equipment. But We'll see how this works out for awhile.

... Dang it... You being up another good point... We're doing this for fun... =/ Fine, I'll run it by Jesse and see what he thinks on your points... By the way, Alex, we discuss your constant fight on the name change every time we have World CIV. But it goes the same every single day... =P

To make you happy, I'll work on building the maps starting this week. I've been meaning to get around to it, anyways. If you get Halo, get ODST for the full multi-player disc. That's what we use whenever we do multiplayer. Remember, we're also going to get a system link cable before we do any recording whatsoever.

Didn't we talk to Teagan awhile ago on this subject in Japanese? I seem to recall her saying yes to the invitation, too. But she didn't sound to interested. Just saying.

You should get to know Jesse better. He's a really great guy. I'm working on the swearing part, if that's stopping you... =/

Oh heck no!!! I'm orange and grey/gray (which one's the color and which one's the last name?!)! So no red! Although excellent idea on the swapping places. We could still use that. It'd just take a little creativity.

I'm in TV/Film, boy. I have acting experience. I do a lot of voice stuff on Flipnote, too. So that shouldn't be a problem. But we may need to worry on Hudson... I can't exactly see him doing this... Has he ever even shown much interest? Think about it. =/

You and I agree on the plotline being deep. Jesse most likely will agree, too. We'll run it by him tomorrow.

Ha ha it's called "breaking" not "braking". ;) But yes, as I said earlier, that would be good to have. You have pretty good ideas. We just need to deepen them and build on them. That's what we're taught to do in TV/Film Production.

Hunters & Runners will be EPIC. We love doing this stuff (Jesse not so much...) and how hard could acting it out be? We just play it, like usual, then add commentary and make it look like it was on purpose. ^_^

Well, this was fun. I enjoyed replying to Alex's post. So yeah, I'll try and post more often on here. Sorry everyone.

As a last side note, I changed many things on the right-hand-side of the blog. For instance, the people that are following this blog are now labeled as "The Reserves", the Blog Archive is now "Archive Library", and a couple other things. So just some military related terms.

Thanks for reading, everyone! Have a nice night. Oyasumi nasai, good night.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

I just remembered I have publishing rights :D

AND HE HASN'T CHECKED OR WRITTEN HERE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR!!! I CAN RUIN HIM WITHOUT HIM EVEN KNOWING!!1 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

(that 1 is a fail, but I love it so much it is staying)

So, I'm really writing here because I wish to update this and ask opinions of Nobody.

Currently, I would like to say that Connor is determined to rename this site, to something other than Orange vs. Purple.

Here I will write my rebuttal.

1. We've have already given the name some foundation. It is the name of this site, it is the name on the music, we have even planned teams and a basic plotline (Mental note, I will now write the plot for these slackers, Since I have been dying for something to truly write about). Even say it. OvP. It just rolls write off the tongue.

2. It gives a basic understanding of what our ..."machinima" (As he calls it) will be about. Basically a voiced character story using Halo 3 as an engine, and background.

Now, connor's rebuttal is this:

"I am afraid that we will be copying off of Red vs. Blue, obviously seeing as how our name would be vastly similar to it (RvB OvP) and that we will use Halo 3 as well."

Well, it would be plagiarism if we called ourselves Red vs. Blue or copied from their plotline (without referencing it to them.)

In all honesty, the fact that our name is similar to Red vs. Blue is exactly true- Cause we are using a Halo universe and a (insert Team)vs.(Insert other Team) plot.

Instead, that fact will prompt others to think of Red vs. Blue when they watch ours.
Chances are, they will be thinking that ours is a total fail compared to those with an entire art room, dedicated computers, and talented actors. That's a truth we'll have to deal with.

Saying that, the only reason we should worry about using OvP for a series name would only worry us if it was good. This is something we're mostly doing for fun so it doesn't really matter what we call ourselves.

Don't expect ANY work done until the summer- and even then it will be hard to get his lazy butt to work.
However, right now I will write a plot. That's something i will do.
And also, I may be able to obtain Halo 3, which means I will be able to do a massive amount of work on my own, although that won't be for a while.

Saying that, I should also say: My guess is that Teagan (Coral) will not wish to be a part of this, seeing as how she loathes videogames and only barely cares about most of the boys playing them.

However, Connor found someone to fill in not only for that post, but complete the triforce that Me, Connor, and Hudson had made. Jessie.

He seems a lot like me, in terms of knowledge of Halo, pokemon, and video games, but he's also about my size and even makes the voices i only subconciously know I make.
I'm not exactly friends with him, but it's interesting as it's like looking into a slightly bent mirror.

So, Me and Hudson (Purple, I think), and Connor and Jessie (Orange).

I think I'm going to write a few plot ideas down here.

My color- Blue, Hudson- Red (Purple) Connor- Red, Jessie- Yellow (Orange)
Saying that, I had an idea that Connor and Hudson would get mixed up and swap someway, and that could make for some very interesting scenes.

(It really depends on their acting, and I think me and Jessie will be fine but Hudson and Connor I'm worried about)

I'd actually like a very deep plotline, but covered on the top with craziness and randomness, so i kinda want to be mysterious...we'll see if they follow me.

Perhaps, some Meteor will crash into the desert of (braking the grid) Sandbox or Sandtrap. And not the flood, but something definately. ((Maybe Coral could make a random guest entrance, before connor shoots her :( Sorry Teagan!
Bad Connor! *whacks* bad, bad doggie!))

Kill Ball :D

Dude, we would just like, all gather round it and want to touch it and it would be hilarious when Jessie followed by Hudson, followed by me, followed by Connor die....
But then get transported somewhere unexpectedly :D

One last thing I want to say is that we will also promote some of our games and discoveries and randomness in some test projects (Hunters and Runners, Teleporter uses, Ramp and Port.

Well, I'm finished. Night!
